The 2022 Auburn football season was a roller coaster ride. The season started off with fans giving their full support to then head coach Bryan Harsin, who had just undergone a university-wide investigation and came out the other side.

However, one of the pivotal moments for Harsin on the Plains was the loss to Penn State. After traveling to Happy Valley last season and losing in a close game, fans were expected a revenge win for the Tigers. Unfortunately, the game was a flop, and Harsin’s team ended up 0-2 against the Nittany Lions.

Then things went downhill quickly. The team was struggling, there seemed to be no improvements or answers, and by Halloween, Harsin was fired. Soon after, Cadillac Williams was named as the interim head coach, and the result on the campus and in the community was astounding.

Having Cadillac in charge of the team was a breath of fresh air, for both the fans and the players, it seemed. The Tigers rallied but ultimately lost to Mississippi State, but came back home to take on Texas A&M in one of the most exciting Jordan-Hare environments ever.

For Cadillac Williams, the experience was one he will never forget, per AL.com:

"“When you’re united, you’re pulling together, magic can happen,” Williams said. “I’m still on cloud nine about it. Nobody can ever take that away from us, that 2022 team. Those 24 seniors. We had a blast. Like, a blast. Us explaining it and us telling you all how it was, it’s not doing it justice. Guys, we had a blast.”"

When Auburn football fans thought all was lost, Coach Caddy gave new hope to the program, and fans packed out the stadium for a three-win team. Though the rebuilding process from the last several years may be a long, hard one, the end of the 2022 season is one that we’ll never forget.

Next. Defense will focus on this before next scrimmage. dark
