It’s bye week for the Auburn football team, and it couldn’t have come at a better time. The Tigers kicked off the first half of their season with a couple of wins and a couple of losses, some highs and some lows, and a lot of injuries.

It was not a week off for the Tigers, though. Without having to worry about game-planning for an opponent, it allowed the team to return to the basics in this week’s practices, according to veteran tight end Luke Deal, who commented that the week’s training had more of a fall-camp feel.

After nearly beating the #1 team in the country last weekend, it was a good time for the Tigers to build on the positives from the Georgia game and for guys to really focus on their techniques. According to Deal, the momentum of doing well in previous games can build up and carry the team into the next game, which will be critical with the upcoming stretch of SEC games on the Auburn football schedule.

The Tigers will be looking for their first SEC win this Saturday in Baton Rouge against LSU, and it won’t be easy, but Deal believes that the team is up for the challenge, and noted that confidence is key in the upcoming matchups, per Auburn Undercover:

"“I learned that this team is not going to back down from anybody,” Deal said. “I learned that this team is very confident in how we approach different weeks. Just the fact that our guys weren’t intimidated. We’re very confident in who we are. We take each and every week and treat it the same and have the same mindset. I think that’s what is going to cause us to go on a run if we can just take it day-by-day and continue to be us.”"

After a week of focus, rest, and rehab, the Auburn football team should be more ready than ever to take on the Bayou Bengals under the lights in Tiger Stadium this Saturday.
