It’s “ironic yet typical” that Alabama and Auburn football are both dug in on the recruitment of Brentwood Academy QB George MacIntyre, a Nashville metro superstar who is currently being looked at by three of the current top four teams in college football and five of the top 11 teams in the country through Week 6 of the 2023 season — this, at least, according to Auburn Daily’s Brian Smith.

“College football recruiting has many twists and turns,” MacIntyre prefaced before saying, “It’s also a reason the sport is so closely monitored by numerous fanbases like Auburn and Alabama. Case in point, 2025 quarterback recruit George MacIntyre is one of the nation’s best recruits. Despite being only a junior right now, some believe he’s as good an overall quarterback as there is for the 2024 or 2025 classes. MacIntyre has a top 10, and both Auburn and Alabama are on his list. How ironic, yet typical, that Auburn and Alabama are going after a big-time recruit.”

MacIntyre will certainly feel a home state pull to Tennessee, which under Josh Heupel has become a top school for producing quarterback talent. Still, the Class of 2025 QB made sure to throw out the honest qualifier that his decision will come down to what’s best for business.

“I appreciate any school that has taken their time and effort to recruit me,” MacIntyre told On3. “It has been a true blessing. I can only thank God for what He’s given me. But at the end of the day, it’s a business and I only have so much time left in the rest of the season to take visits. These are the schools I will be focusing on.”

Auburn football already has Walker White coming in 2024

Truth be told, Auburn football likely doesn’t have much of a chance to land MacIntyre; which is not something to be concerned about considering the imminent arrival of Little Rock Christian Academy’s Walker White in 2024.

White has been an ardent and active recruiter for Hugh Freeze and Co. and has presumably worked with the program to target the best Plains fits. MacIntyre would be too good to pass up, and competition in the QB room is healthy, but don’t expect AU to overcome the top teams in the sport to land him.
