It’s been a big week for the Auburn basketball program. The Tigers packed it up and headed out to Sioux Falls, South Dakota for their 2023 season opener, going head-to-head with #20 Baylor right out of the gate.

Though Bruce Pearl and his squad were not able to pull off a win, the Tigers played a hell of a game and made it clear that this will be a fun team to watch. Despite heading home with an L, the Tigers definitely learned a lot about themselves in this game.

Today, the positive momentum picked back up when it was announced that 4-star small forward Jahki Howard has officially committed to Bruce Pearl and Auburn basketball. He is ranked as the #80 overall player and the #28 small forward in the recruiting class of 2023 and is the #9 player out of the state of Georgia.

Earning the commitment of Howard is a big deal for the Tigers, and he will join 5-star Tahaad Pettiford, the #2 point guard in the class of 2024, in Auburn’s recruiting class. Pettiford signed his letter of intent just today.

Obviously, Auburn basketball fans were excited to land the prospect, and reacted in a big way on X, formerly known as Twitter:

Auburn basketball will face their next opponent, Southern Louisiana, this Friday from Neville Arena  with a 7:00 p.m. tipoff.
