‘May get opportunity to watch’ unpopular ex-Auburn HC return to alma mater
As Auburn Daily’s Lance Dawe relayed, wildly unpopular former Auburn football head coach Bryan Harsin is the current betting favorite to reclaim the head coaching job at Boise State — meaning college football fans may see the Idaho native return to his alma mater for a third time in his career, and second time as a head coach.
“Former Auburn head coach Bryan Harsin was at Boise State before a disastrous stint with the Tigers,” Dawe prefaced before saying, “Now, as the Boise State job has opened back up, Harsin is the betting favorite to return to coach for the Broncos.
“Following a stunt to get him removed as Auburn’s head coach over the offseason, Harsin acknowledged the fiasco at SEC Media Days and sent a message to folks who were skeptical of how he was leading his program. His instructions? ‘Just watch.’ Folks may get an opportunity to just watch him at Boise once again.”
Bryan Harsin deemed ‘perfect option to rebuild’ Boise State despite infamous Auburn football failures
AthlonSports’ Zach McKinnell sees Harsin as the “perfect option” to rebuild Boise State as an alum and a native to Idaho’s capital.
“Boise State experienced success under Harsin and hiring a Boise native could be the perfect option to rebuild the program,” McKinnell wrote.
As crazy as a Harsin comeback sounds after his disastrous run on the Plains, a reunion in Boise could bring him back to the only program he belongs on. Notably, Harsin never made any strides to form meaningful relationships with high school coaches across Alabama. In Idaho, he won’t have that problem; having already made those crucial relationships over his seven-year stint as head coach before his infamous one and two-thirds seasons flop with the Tigers.
Harsin and Auburn were water and oil, he does seem to go with Boise like a baked potato and sour cream.
