Merry Flipmas to all who celebrate! And the Auburn football program is celebrating today after finally flipping 5-star wide receiver Cam Coleman from the Texas A&M Aggies.
Ranked as the #1 wide receiver out of the state of Alabama and the #3 receiver in the recruiting class of 2024, Coleman has now beaten out fellow 5-star wide receiver Perry Thompson to become the most highly-ranked commit in the Tigers’ class.
Coleman was the very first prospect that first-year wide receivers coach Marcus Davis reached out to with an offer when he took his job on the Plains, and the pair built a strong relationship throughout Coleman’s recruitment.
He visited Auburn football a number of times throughout the spring and summer and then took the world of college football by surprise on July 4 when he committed to Texas A&M. However, the Tigers never stopped recruiting the wide receiver, whose hometown is just down the road from Auburn.
After Fisher was fired from Texas A&M, Auburn football began pushing harder for Coleman to flip, and things seemed to hinge on whether or not notable Auburn football alum Dameyune Craig would continue on as the wide receivers coach for the Aggies. It was recently announced that new Texas A&M head coach Mike Elko would not be keeping Craig on staff, and all signs seemed to point to Coleman becoming an Auburn Tiger.
And today, it finally happened!
Coleman becomes the fourth wide receiver to commit in the Tigers’ recruiting class of 2024, joining Perry Thompson, Bryce Cain, and Malcolm Simmons. Auburn football now has 19 commits with three weeks to go until signing day.
