With Hugh Freeze being dismissed as Auburn's head football coach on Sunday, many recruits currently committed to the Tigers might have second thoughts on where they want to spend their college career.

Auburn has already lost a commit in 3-star athlete Eric Perry, who is now committed to Memphis. The Tigers might be in danger of losing a much bigger commitment in 5-star Bralan Womack, who is taking an official visit to Texas A&M next weekend.

Following Freeze's firing on Sunday, 247Sports caught up with Womack, who had this to say about his recruitment.

"I'm going to stay committed to Auburn, but I'm opening up my recruitment," Womack said.

With the future of the Auburn program much in question and Mike Elko having things going exceptionally well in College Station, it may be difficult for the Tigers and their new head coach to retain players like Womack.

The No. 1 safety and No. 13 overall player in the 2026 class, Womack committed to the Tigers on August 21. However, he made headlines following Auburn's overtime loss to Missouri, seemingly criticizing Freeze and the Tigers' offense.

"The honest truth in how I'm feeling right now, the defense has got to stop leaving the game up to the offense," the 5-star safety told Auburn Undercover. "At this point, the defense — in the college world we live in now — you've got to score 20 or more points to compete. And we've done that zero times in SEC play."

A few days later, the Flowood, Miss., native took to Twitter to clear up what he had said.

"In regard to the article that's circulating, I want to clear the air," Womack wrote. "My intentions were never to bad mouthAuburn's offense. I'm just a competitor who's passionate about the game and excited about what's being built here. Auburn has so much potential, and I can't wait to be a part of it. I just don't want anything taken out of context from what I said about the recent games. I will continue to support my team win, lose or draw, but I will also continue to hold us to the highest standard! War Eagle!"
