If you're an Auburn football fan, you're probably pretty dang fired up right now. On Thursday night, head football coach Hugh Freeze recorded one of the biggest recruiting wins for the Tigers since he took over as the leader of the program.
Despite Ohio State charging late, the Tigers were able to hold off Ryan Day and Co. for the verbal commitment of 5-star safety Bralan Womack. Womack was down to Ohio State, Florida, Texas A&M and Auburn, but Freeze being a fellow Mississippi guy helped Auburn out in a big way. Right after he announced for Auburn, Womack probably had Tigers supporters everywhere off their seats after delivering the following message to 247Sports' Tom Loy:
“Me and my mom and my dad had this conversation,” Womack said on why he chose Auburn over Ohio State and others. “God will never send you somewhere that’s perfect, but he’ll send you somewhere with a purpose. There’s a purpose for me to be on The Plains. War Damn Eagle.”

5-star safety Bralan Womack just committed to Auburn football and Hugh Freeze
This week, reports arrived stating that Ohio State was making one final push to land Womack and that the reigning national champs were giving him a lot to think about. Earlier this year, the Buckeyes were his No. 1 school and he loved a spring visit to Columbus.
However, Freeze and the Tigers always made him feel like a top priority and the buzz throughout this month had been that Auburn was in the driver's seat to win this massive recruiting battle. It indeed is a major get for Freeze and his coaching staff.
“Because he’s a Mississippi guy,” Womack said of why he wants to play for Freeze. “He knows me best. I just want to bring something special to Auburn just like him.”
According to the 247Sports Composite, Womack is ranked five stars, the No. 1 safety in the country, No. 2 player from Mississippi and the No. 15 player overall for the 2026 class. He had a boatload of offers, but in the end he knew Auburn is where he belongs. In some more good news for Freeze, Womack will graduate high school early and join the team in January.
