Auburn dropped in a heartbreaking 24-17 loss to Oklahoma in Memorial Stadium on Saturday, giving the Tigers their first defeat of the season.

And, after entering the US LBM Coaches Poll last week for the first time this season, Hugh Freeze's team finds itself on the outside looking in on the Top 25 after the defeat to the Sooners.

The Tigers received 48 votes in the Week 5 poll, ranking them 31st out of 136 teams in the FBS.

Auburn seemed to take an early lead against Oklahoma in the first quarter on Saturday, with a Sooners' receiver getting stripped and the Tigers returning it 64 yards for a touchdown. After a lengthy review, the SEC officials somehow found indisputable evidence that the ball was never caught, giving the Sooners possession back.

Oklahoma's first touchdown of the game came on what should have been called an unsportsmanlike penalty on the Sooners, as wide receiver Isaiah Sategna seemed to limp toward the sidelines, effectively taking it out of the next play, before stopping short of the sideline. Oklahoma quarterback John Mateer snapped the ball and found his receiver wide open by 20 yards.

Following the game, SEC Officiating issued a statement confirming that the play was, in fact, illegal and should have resulted in a 15-yard penalty.
