The spring football season for Auburn is getting ready to come to an end with the Spring Game on Saturday, April 18. Golesh is putting together his first offseason with the Tigers, and that includes a few recruiting battles.
An SEC battle on the recruiting trail seems to be in store for Golesh and another new coach in the conference. Kentucky head coach Will Stein hosted Auburn commit Trae Proctor for a visit recently nad things reported went very well, and Rivals' Steve Wilfong has Proctor on high flip alert.

Proctor is one of two commits in the 2027 recruiting class for Auburn, coming in as a three-star recruit at the tight end position. Proctor is tanked as the No. 37 tight end in the Class of 2027 and the No. 55 player in the state of Florida, according to 247Sports.
The Florida native has not been committed to the Tigers for too long, only since January of 2026, so with the heart of recruiting season beginning, it makes sense that Proctor would be keeping his options open. This would be a nightmare scenario for Golesh, who is struggling to have wins on the recruiting trail for the future.
Auburn's Spring Game will be telling about Auburn's future under Alex Golesh
When head coach Alex Golesh took over at Auburn, he wasn't taking over a program that had had a lot of success in the previous 10 years. The Tigers have struggled under multiple head coaches, and there is hope that Golesh would be able to bring his success from USF to Auburn.
While Golesh has struggled in the recruiting game so far in his time with Auburn, he has been working hard with the team during spring practices, and the performance on Saturday will be telling for the future. Golesh had his work cut out for him when building the roster from the portal, but he has also been honest about the state of the team right now.
Golseh wants a little bit more toughness out of his team, both mentally and physically, and from that he hopes to build from the spring season into fall camps and finally into the 2026 season.
