With Alex Golesh officially taking over as head coach of the Auburn Tigers, his first order of business is to make sure top talent doesn't leave the program and enter the portal. It goes without saying, but countless eyes are on stud wideout Cam Coleman.
Former 4-star receiver Perry Thompson announces intent to enter transfer portal
There's been plenty of speculation that he could decide to play elsewhere next season, with fanbases across the country waiting to see if he'll leave the Tigers or not. While Golesh works on keeping Campbell in town, some disappointing news arrived on Friday. That'd be that fellow wideout Perry Thompson will be entering the portal. Will Coleman make the same call or stay put?

Auburn WR Perry Thompson will enter the portal and now all eyes are on Cam Coleman
This past season, Thompson finished the year with 17 receptions for 154 yards and no touchdowns. The hope was that he'd be able to make a big leap this campaign, but that just wasn't the case for him. Because of that, plus the coaching change, the Alabama product has decided to find a new home.
When Thompson arrived at Auburn, there were high expectations for him. He was once a high 4-star prospect, just missing out on being a 5-star signee. Thompson was going to play for the Crimson Tide, but he flipped his decision to Auburn in what was a massive get for Hugh Freeze.
Since then, however, Auburn has struggled on the field and Freeze has been fired. Golesh has injected some needed energy back into the program, but there's worry that several guys are going to follow Thompson's move and hit the portal.
Obviously, Campbell is high on the list in terms of people's concern for an offseason departure. He was a 5-star talent and the No. 2 WR in the country when he made things official with Auburn. Tigers fans everywhere are praying to the Football Gods that he'll stay home and be a playmaker for Golesh. Only time will tell if that proves to be the case or not.
