Less than two weeks ago, three-star cornerback Nash Johnson III was committed to the Alabama Crimson Tide. Now, just 12 days later, none other than the Auburn Tigers are the frontrunners to bring Johnson home.
Johnson decommitted from the Tide on April 8. Since then, the Tigers and head coach Alex Golesh have worked their way to the top of his recruiting totem pole.
"I love Auburn. Auburn's at the top right now," Johnson recently told 247Sports' Christian Clemente.
When Clemente shared the story of Johnson putting Auburn ahead of the rest of the field, the young cornerback responded with three side-eye emojis, only fueling beliefs that he was leaning in the Tigers' direction.
Johnson is a Georgia native who initially committed to Alabama over the likes of the Georgia Bulldogs, Oregon Ducks, and Miami Hurricanes.
Nash Johnson III has Auburn atop his list
According to On3 and Rivals, the Tigers have a comfortable lead on the other programs trying to lure Johnson in their direction. The site's recruiting experts give Auburn a 31.3 percent chance to land his commitment, followed by the Tennessee Volunteers with 14.1 percent odds.

So far, Golesh and his staff have received two commitments from the class of 2027, including four-star defensive lineman Donivan Moore and four-star tight end George Lamons.
Currently, the class ranks 58th in the country, landing them at 15th in the SEC standings, but the addition of a recruit like Johnson could send the class in the right direction.
While the recruiting class has a lot of room for improvement, Golesh has landed 39 commitments from the transfer portal, highlighted by a handful of four-star prospects: quarterback Byrum Brown, EDGE Dashawn Womack, cornerback Andre Jordan Jr., and wide receiver Keshaun Singleton.
