This weekend, the Auburn baseball team will remain home and take on the Mississippi State Bulldogs in Plainsman Park. The Tigers are coming off a 1-0 win against Georgia Tech earlier this week to bounce back from their losses at Texas, and will hope to fare better against the Bulldogs.

While the Tigers' pitching staff has done a great job so far this season and the pitchers have been pretty impressive, the team has struggled on offense in their recent matchups. According to Auburn Rivals, Auburn baseball is ranked No. 13 in batting average with a .256, No. 13 in runs scored with 93, and tied for No. 13 in home runs with 19 after 18 conference games.

Conversely, Mississippi State has been a team that has enjoyed success on the offensive side, ranking fifth in batting average. Still, the Tigers boast a better record than the Bulldogs heading into the game, and head coach Butch Thompson believes his team can get back to operating at a high level on the offense.

“I know we’ll play better offense. We can’t play worse than we’ve played the last four games,” said Thompson, per Auburn Rivals. “We’ve just got to keep working and let the score take care of itself. Just get back to the process of where all these guys have had more success than they’re having now."

“I think we are (pressing) a little bit. I just don’t think we’re executing at the level we know is possible for us right now,” added freshman Chris Rembert, who is third on the team with a .304 average in league play.

“I think we just need one game where we can just all put it together and keep it going from there.”

The first matchup is set for Friday at 6:00 p.m. The Saturday game will be at 6:00, too, and on Sunday the final matchup will take place at 2:00 p.m.
