In today's edition of Auburn Tigers News, the baseball team will take on No. 1 Texas, and a kicker from the football team has entered the portal

Today, the Auburn baseball team will play the second of a three-game series on the road against the No. 1 Texas Longhorns. The Tigers are headed into the series ranked No. 8 after their sweep of No. 3 LSU last weekend.

Tonight's game will begin at 7:00 p.m. Friday's game is scheduled for 6:00 p.m. and the series will wrap up at noon on Saturday.

"We're getting to play the No. 1 team in America," head coach Butch Thompson said, per Auburn Undercover. "I'm just so impressed with Texas. I keep giving characteristics of teams we've played, and for Texas this is every bit of the same pitching staff as LSU. I'm overly impressed with the depth and ability of the pitching staff. This is probably the most sound team we've played from a preparation standpoint."

Texas has won every series they've played so far this season, and have a 30-5 overall record.

Kicker enters the transfer portal

Earlier this week, junior place kicker Ian Vachon announced on his personal social media that he would be entering the transfer portal after one season with Auburn football.

Vachon transferred to the Plains after the closure of his previous school, Birmingham Southern, and played a key role for the Tigers at the end of the season. He started in the final three games and was responsible for sending the Texas A&M game to overtime with a last-minute made field goal.

However, with Alex McPherson recovering from surgery and set to return after battling gastrointestinal issues last season and the addition of former Southern Miss kicker Connor Gibbs, Vachon has made the decision to move on.
