Auburn basketball recruiting made headlines Tuesday when the Tigers landed top prospect Kaden Magwood -- and they’re not done yet. Five-star power forward Bryson Tiller will announce his commitment on Friday; Auburn stands among his top choices.
Bryson Tiller (not that Bryson Tiller) is a six-foot-ten, 240-pounder who, like Magwood, made his break in the Overtime Elite League. After being traded from the Cold Hearts, the five-star won the OTE championship with the City Reapers in his first season in the league.
The Atlanta native has averaged 22.9 points per 40 minutes this season, along with 5.7 assists and 8.6 rebounds. A clutch playoff performer, Tiller averages over 15 points per playoff game over two seasons.
247Sports’ Director of Scouting describes Tiller as “long and powerful with a developing inside-out skill set. Recently measured at 6-foot-10 with a 7-foot-3 wingspan, 9-foot-3 standing reach, and 11-inch hands, his physical measurements are off the charts. His frame is just as impressive, sculpted and powerful.”
He goes on to say that “ has shown real growth in the progression of his skill-set. He’s very comfortable in the mid-post, often choosing to face-up, and consistently able to score over top of contesting defenders in that mid-range area. He has shooting touch that is starting to extend out to the arc with more consistency, is a big screener, and a tough match-up in two-man games because of the increasing versatility to roll or pop. He has a good left hand and can also put the ball on the floor comfortably for a couple of bounces.”
Auburn basketball's frontcourt badly needs a player like Bryson Tiller
Tiller would be a massive asset for an Auburn team that’s set to lose Johni Broome and Dylan Cardwell, the Tigers’ infamous big men, and would surely see significant playing time and coverage if he were to commit to Bruce Pearl’s squad.
Whatever the case, Tiller will announce his commitment on November 15, we’ll keep you updated as it happens.
