Alex Golesh has the first flip of his short Auburn tenure as 3-star wide receiver DeShawn Spencer announced his commitment to the Tigers.

Committed to Duke since July, Spencer took an official visit to the Plains for the Iron Bowl on Saturday.

Iron Bowl atmosphere sold Spencer on Auburn

“The guys didn’t get a win, but just the brotherhood that they had to continue striving and carrying on and taking on adversity just makes me want to be a part of this program,” Spencer said. “That really stood out to me. Just how close the guys are and how they always have each other’s backs.”

Spencer was already sold on the Tigers before Golesh was named the head coach on Sunday. The 5-foot-11, 170-pound Saraland High School product has been looking at Auburn as one of his dream schools since he was young.

“When picking a college, you have to pick the school,” Spencer said. “You have to really like the school for the school. Plus, it’s in state and not too far from my parents. That’s so special to me. Being able to put on for my home state is a dream that I had ever since I was a little kid. Being actually able to live out that dream is something I don’t take for granted.”
