As the world of college football continues to change, teams must adapt to those changes to continue to be competitive, and the Auburn football team is working to do just that. On Wednesday, the Tigers added another staffer to the scouting and personnel department from the world of professional sports.

Former New York Jets assistant general manager Rex Hogan has been hired at Auburn to be the Director of Scouting as the Tigers try to ramp up recruiting efforts, especially with the recruiting class of 2026, which is currently ranked No. 65 overall.

Hogan served as the assistant general manager for the Jets from 2019 to 2024, overseeing both the college and pro scouting departments and playing a significant role in decisions regarding personnel evaluation. He also has experience working in player personnel and scouting with the Indianapolis Colts and the Chicago Bears.

As Director of Scouting on the Plains, Hogan will travel the country to recruit players to Auburn. He will also work to evaluate the current roster and help identify Transfer Portal targets. As a bonus, because of his extensive experience working in the NFL, he will be able to help players navigate those decisions and get to the league.

Hogan is the second off-field staffer to join Auburn football this month following former Arkansas Director of Player Personnel Jovon Hubbard, who previously worked with Hugh Freeze at Liberty. According to Auburn Undercover, there could be several more staff additions on the way as the recruiting process continues to evolve.
