This week, the Auburn football program hosted one of the top recruits in the nation for an official visit. 5-star tight end Kaiden Prothro took a midweek official visit to the Plains, and it bolstered the Tigers' momentum in his recruitment.
From Bowdon, Georgia, Prothro is ranked as the No. 25 overall prospect and the No. 3 tight end in the recruiting class of 2026. He is ranked as the No. 3 recruit out of his state, and the Georgia Bulldogs are pushing hard for him to keep his talents in the Peach State.
While Prothro maintains that Georgia leads in his recruitment, he has visited the Auburn football program the same number of times, according to his On3 recruiting profile, and the Tigers have emerged as the Bulldogs' main competitor for the elite tight end.
Prothro spent this visit going more in-depth with the coaching staff, including head coach Hugh Freeze and tight ends coach Ben Aigamaua, and learning more about how he would fit in on the Plains. He told Auburn Rivals that he would rate the visit a 9/10.
"Just Coach Freeze making me feel like I'm a priority here," Prothro said. "Coach Ben just making me feel like I'm really needed here and that they really want me. I fit in with what they do here. I had a really good time here, just spending time with the coaches and just them making me feel like a family."
Prothro has already officially visited Auburn, Alabama and Georgia and is set to officially visit Florida and Texas in the coming weeks before the dead period. For now, he has no set timeline for his commitment, but he plans on making a final decision by the end of the summer. As of now, Georgia is leading his recruitment, but the Tigers are closing in.
