Hugh Freeze has done it again. After another seven-loss season, Auburn football is being hyped up as a potentially ranked team in 2025. After all of this losing on the field but winning on the recruiting trail, the Tigers' tipping the scales back in their favor is a hot prediction.

247 Sports' Brad Crawford believes AU has the best receiving corps in the SEC and is worthy of the hype they are receiving in media circles. He also noted the "all in" effort Freeze and Co. have put into finally winning in 2025.

"Don't be surprised, despite consecutive less-than-stellar seasons under Hugh Freeze, to see the Tigers in various early preseason rankings this fall. To borrow a phrase from Auburn's 2010 national championship team, the Tigers are 'all in' for 2025 with this enhanced roster after making changes at quarterback, wide receiver, offensive line and along the defensive front. From top to bottom with the addition of Georgia Tech's Eric Singleton, Auburn's wideout group might be the SEC's best," Crawford wrote.

Paul Finebaum likes Auburn's momentum and was similarly bullish on the Tigers' chances of contending for something this fall.

“I’m also strangely bullish – and I don’t think it’s strange but, every time I bring this up to somebody, they shoot me down. But I like what I see from Auburn,” Finebaum said, per On3.

“I think they went out and landed a quarterback that I think can help them, even though he maybe didn’t do much for Oklahoma.

“Now he still faces a critical season. I’m not washing that away. And it really doesn’t matter and it won’t matter if he doesn’t have a big year but I do like the momentum there."

Let's not forget how hyped many were on AU's chances during the 2024 season. Finebaum predicted an 8-4 finish.

The Tigers have a nasty habit of getting hopes up and letting fans down even with endless momentum. Don't get too high on Auburn until seeing how they fare against Baylor in Week 1.
