Keionte Scott will enter the NCAA Transfer Portal after three seasons with Auburn football

Former Auburn football cornerback Keionte Scott becomes the latest Tiger to hit the transfer portal. A graduate transfer, Scott will have one remaining year of eligibility after a recent ruling by the NCAA.

Vanderbilt quarterback Diego Pavia, who got his start at junior college, sued the NCAA in November for additional eligibility. On Monday, the organization announced the blanket waiver, allowing junior college transfers who would run out of eligibility at the end of the current academic year an extra year of eligibility. Scott was not expected to return to the Plains prior to the NCAA's ruling. Offensive lineman Izavion "Too Tall" Miller is also impacted by the ruling and is expected to return for another season.

Scott began his career at Snow College, and transferred to Auburn football under Bryan Harsin ahead of the 2022 season. He quickly became an impact player for the Tigers at nickel and also specialized in punt returns. He was a key part of the Auburn defense in the 2023 season, and head coach Hugh Freeze prioritized keeping Scott out of the portal last offseason.

However, in the 2024 season, Scott made the move to corner and struggled to excel. He eventually fell out of the starting rotation and behind on the depth chart. In his three seasons in orange and blue, Scott recorded 115 total tackles, six tackles for loss, one sack, one interception, and ten passes deflected.

Scott is one of 24 Auburn football players to have entered the NCAA transfer portal during the December window, which lasts from the 9th to the 28th. The Tigers have brought in 15 additional players from the portal, and the Auburn football transfer class is ranked #17 overall and #5 in the SEC.
