The Auburn football team hosted almost ten recruits on campus this weekend for official visits, and their efforts yielded major results. Following the trip to the Plains, 3-star running back Eric Perry announced his commitment to the Tigers.

From Southhaven, Mississippi, Perry is ranked as the No. 87 ATH in the recruiting class of 2026 and is the No. 36 recruit out of his home state. He plays quarterback for his high school team at DeSoto Central, but has been recruited by Auburn Offensive Coordinator Derrick Nix and the coaching staff as a running back. According to Auburn Rivals, Nix has played a key role in the RB's recruitment.

"He was really the main factor because he was the one that called my phone, telling me everything," Perry said. "We talked about my film and stuff. I felt the vibe that he really wanted me here. And I feel like he was being truthful in everything he was saying."

He first visited the Plains earlier this spring, and soon after earned an offer from the Tigers, which was only his second offer from a Power Four program. By the time his official rolled around this weekend, Perry was ready to officially become a Tiger.

"I just wanted to play at the highest level in the SEC," Perry said of his decision, per Auburn Undercover. "I really didn't want to play anywhere else. They had reached out to me and I was real excited because my cousin played at Mississippi State and so to me, that was the standard for where I had to be. It was really the first time I came here."

Perry is the eighth commitment in Auburn football's recruiting class of 2026 and is the first running back commit. The class is currently ranked No. 35 overall.
