As the dead period is quickly approaching at the end of June, the Tigers have been busy hosting prospects from all over the country. Earlier this week, the top quarterback in the recruiting class of 2027 made his way to the Plains for his first visit with the Auburn football program.
Baton Rouge, Louisiana, native Elijah Haven is ranked as the No. 22 overall prospect and the No. 1 quarterback in the recruiting class of 2027. He is ranked as the No. 4 recruit out of his home state, and he spent several hours in Auburn on Wednesday checking out the Tigers' facilities and meeting with some of the coaching staff, primarily quarterbacks coach Kent Austin.
The pair discussed how Haven would be a good fit on the Plains and how his skill set could be utilized in a similar way to current freshman quarterback Deuce Knight.
"You see a guy like Deuce Knight, a lot of our skillset is the same in a way," Haven said, per Auburn Rivals. "I think I’d fit in with this offense very well...They definitely discussed how they develop their quarterbacks and what separates them from other schools. I really appreciated that because that’s something I look for and how are you developing quarterbacks that come in here? Deuce is a great example of that."
Though Haven plans to take his time with his choice, he hopes to have a final decision before his senior season begins. He also plans to visit Michigan, LSU and Alabama before the end of the month.
