Standout Auburn football QB commit Deuce Knight believes in Auburn and loves it -- that much is apparent. However, what many fans didn’t anticipate was that Knight would immediately move in an attempt to assist the team he’ll soon play for.
Five-star-plus CB Na’eem Offord has been committed to Ohio State since February 2, yet has been showing legitimate interest in Auburn. In fact, On3 Recruits announced Sunday that the superstar player would announce his commitment on Signing Day.
A 247Sports recruiting analyst sung the praises of the six-foot-one, 185-pounder:
“ Long fluid reactionary athlete that possesses elite length and physical tools at the corner position as detailed by his ability to excel in a variety of different pass coverage schemes. A three-phase playmaker, Offord’s blend of size, patience and cat-quick reactionary athleticism allow him the unique ability to match up and mirror any combination of opposing size, speed, and quickness at the receiver position," 247Sports' Cooper Petagna wrote.
“An explosive lower body prospect as demonstrated by a previously recorded an 11-foot plus broad jump, the Birmingham native’s on-ball playmaking is much derived from his ability to close space quickly and force tight windows due to his arm length and quick leaping explosiveness.
“A toolsy corner with an uptick in ball production as a junior, the Parker High School standout projects as a high level multi-year starter with the ability to quickly become one of college football’s top corner prospects and develop into a potential Top-20 NFL Draft choice.”
Offord has received predictions already in favor of Auburn, but in the NIL era, nothing is certain until signing day. However, that doesn’t mean that the now and future Tigers won’t try to get some words in his head.
In response to Offord’s announcement about choosing between Ohio State, Oregon, and Auburn on signing day, 4-star LB Jamichael “Jmike” Garrett responded in a tweet, saying “I’m pretty confident.”
Just an hour later, Deuce Knight added his voice to the mix, confidently stating “Makes 2 of us.”
Does this mean these two know something we don’t? Only time will tell, but it is certainly reasonable to believe that two highly-rated Auburn recruits would have a powerful voice in recruiting.
