Auburn football RB commit smashes Alabama high school records, leads nation in yards
By Brooks Crew
Auburn football head coach Hugh Freeze’s recruiting this year has been the stuff of legend. Not only has his Class of 2025 QB commit, Deuce Knight, scored nine touchdowns and earned All-American honors, but his four-star RB commit now holds the Alabama record for career rushing yards.
On November 8, Alvin Henderson eclipsed 10,000 career rushing yards in a game against the Verbena Red Devils, cementing him as the first Alabama RB ever to attain that mark. There are still more games to play. Henderson’s ceiling continues to get higher with every carry.
The five-foot-nine 200-pounder is no stranger to records, either -- on October 25, he passed Mac Campbell (9,839 yards) for the Alabama High School Athletic Association (AHSAA) all-time rushing record. This record had previously stood for 27 years.
Henderson is just the seventh RB in the country to ever eclipse the 10,000-yard mark, joining the ranks of elite company like Herschel Walker and Derrick Henry.
On June 21, 2024, Auburn and Hugh Freeze flipped Henderson from his previous commitment at Penn State. The Alabama native had been committed to the Nittany Lions since April.
Hugh Freeze's 2025 Auburn football recruiting class is his best one yet
Hugh Freeze’s recruiting has always shone through, but this year may be his best work yet; jumping from his 2024 eighth-ranked recruiting class to a third-ranked 2025 class, all despite an abysmal 3-6 start to the season.
Freeze’s 2025 class boasts anywhere between one and three five stars (depending on what 247 is ranking them at the time), and an astonishing seventeen four stars. Without a doubt, Freeze is poised to have one of the most talented teams in AU's history.
It's just a matter of what he can do with it.
