As the saga of the transfer portal continues, an Auburn football wide receiver target is nearing his decision. The Tigers are looking to land former Wake Forest WR Horatio Fields, who visited the Plains earlier this week and is expected to make his commitment within the next few days.

Originally from Douglasville, Georgia, Fields was ranked as a 3-star wide receiver out of high school. He signed with the Wake Forest Demon Deacons as a member of their 2021 recruiting class and spent four seasons in Winston-Salem.

He saw limited game action as a true freshman in 2021 and redshirted. He did not see game action in 2022, but began working his way into the lineup in 2023, where he played in 11 games and finished the season with five receptions for 54 yards.

2024 was his breakout season and Fields started in all 12 games for the Demon Deacons. He finished the year in second place for both receptions and yards, with 39 and 463, respectively, and led the Deacs in receiving touchdowns with four.

Fields visited the Plains earlier this week following his official visit to Kentucky and has narrowed his decision to the two schools despite reports of plans to visit Duke and South Carolina.

"I think after this visit, I should be done," Fields said, per Auburn Rivals. "I think I'm going to take some time after this. I don't think I'm going to see no other schools. I think I should just let me think, and I should have a decision in the next couple days."

For Fields, the opportunity to win matters, but it isn't the most important factor in his decision.

"Am I around a group of guys, a group of men who's all about it," Fields said. "Just the same as me, because that's what I'm looking for. I'm looking for a place where I can be fully in a place that will take care of me, fully be like life. Take care of me outside of football, mental talks, just really getting to know who I am, and just being put in a position to succeed on and off the field, and also go win a national championship."
