Auburn makes the final cut for 4-star EDGE who just decommitted from Texas A&M

Even with Hugh Freeze out of the picture, the Auburn Tigers made the cut for a four-star prospect's final four schools, alongside a couple of other SEC teams.

Hugh Freeze is finally out of the picture, and while there is still drama in the athletic department, the recruiting train has not stopped for the Auburn Tigers.

While former defensive coordinator DJ Durkin acts as interim head coach, he and the rest of the staff are still working to ensure that the Tigers bring in the top prospects from across the country.

Most recently, Auburn found itself among the final four schools under consideration by four-star EDGE Jordan Carter, a Georgia native who decommitted from the Texas A&M Aggies at the beginning of November.

4-star EDGE Jordan Carter's final four schools

  • Auburn Tigers
  • Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets
  • Tennessee Volunteers
  • Texas Longhorns

Despite growing up just two hours from the Georgia Bulldogs' home in Athens, Carter did not include that home-state team within his final four. Instead, he included the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets, the Tennessee Volunteers, the Texas Longhorns (the Aggies' rival), and Auburn.

Even with the head coach who initially recruited him out of the picture, Carter clearly likes what the Tigers have to offer him, including them over their own in-state rivals, the Alabama Crimson Tide.

So far throughout his recruitment process, Carter has visited Auburn four times, the most out of any other program, and the Tigers are his only scheduled official visit so far. He has taken one trip apiece to Tennessee and Georgia Tech, and has yet to visit the Longhorns.

As the No. 19 prospect out of Georgia and the No. 22 prospect in the class of 2026, Carter has been a heavily recruited target. Yet, the Auburn Tigers are one of just four programs to make his cut for the final four.

Carter has yet to announce when he will make his (new) commitment, but Tiger fans should keep a close eye on social media to see any clues as to where his mind could be leaning.

Auburn Tigers class of 2026 recruits

So far, Auburn has brought in the nationally-ranked No. 25 class of 2026, landing the Tigers at 12th in the SEC.

The upcoming recruiting class is highlighted by five-star wide receiver Jase Mathews, five-star safety Bralan Womack, four-star EDGE Jaquez Wilkes, and four-star quarterback Peyton Falzone, just to name a few.

The addition of yet another four-star pass rusher like Carter could be exactly what the Tigers need to break into the top-10 of the conference recruiting rankings.
