Once the Auburn football team made the difficult decision to part ways with Hugh Freeze, you just knew it was going to have a negative impact on recruiting. The Tigers had been able to hang on to 5-star defensive back Bralan Womack, but that might be changing soon.
Experts predict Auburn to suffer a devastating blow in the transfer portal
On Monday morning, recruiting guru Steve Wiltfong put in his official prediction for 5-star safety commit Bralan Womack to have a change of heart and flip his verbal to a different SEC side. That's right, Wiltfong thinks that the elite defensive back is going to be Texas A&M-bound instead. Womack was in College Station this past weekend on his visit, with the thrilling victory over South Carolina making an impact on him:

Auburn football appears close to losing 5-star commit Bralan Womack to Texas A&M
For Auburn fans, there's no question that they've got to be quite frustrated about this. Back on Aug. 21, Womack surprised a lot of people when he announced that he was committing to the Tigers. Plenty of people thought that Ryan Day and Ohio State would win that recruiting battle.
Lately, though, there had been some buzz that Womack could take a look at other programs with Freeze no longer running the show, including LSU. Would the door also open for the Buckeyes to make another charge at Womack and land him this time around?
That doesn't seem to be the case, as it's now Mike Elko and Texas A&M who are in the driver's seat in terms of making things official with Womack once the Early Signing Period gets here in early December. This will be a massive get for the Aggies, but definitely a huge setback for Auburn.
According to the 247Sports Composite, the 5-11, 195-pounder is ranked five stars, the No. 1 safety in the country and No. 19 prospect overall for the 2026 class. Throughout his recruitment, Womack picked up 35 offers, with powerhouses all over the nation hoping to land his services. All signs pointed to Auburn getting him to campus, but now Elko is on the verge of pulling a fast one on him.
