With the offseason officially underway for the Auburn basketball team, head coach Steven Pearl and his staff are already working on piecing together next year's roster.
After defeating Tulsa last weekend for the NIT Championship, the Tigers will host one of their players for a visit. Point guard Tylen Riley is set to make his way to the Plains next week with plans to visit Cincinnati and Ole Miss, as well. He will have one year of eligibility remaining at his next school.
Riley, who began his college career at Cal Baptist, averaged 15 points and 4.4 assists last season with Tulsa. He shot at 87 percent from the free-throw line and 39 percent from three. In the NIT Championship game versus Auburn, Riley scored 20 points and logged three assists and three steals.
Pearl and the Tigers will have to bring in several players from the portal and are considering many options. Also set to visit next week is San Diego State transfer guard BJ Davis, who will visit Oklahoma, too.
The transfer portal will be open until April 21, and the Tigers have already lost two players. Freshman international player Filip Jovic has already committed to UCLA, and freshman guard Kaden Magwood is still deciding on his next stop. Keyshawn Hall and KeShawn Murphy will not return due to exhausted eligibility.
Meanwhile, freshmen Simon Walker and Sebastian Williams-Adams have declared they will return alongside NIT MVP Kevin Overton. The Tigers are still awaiting star player Tahaad Pettiford's decision.
