This weekend, the Auburn Tigers football team will play host to a big name in the transfer portal. Former USF quarterback Byrum Brown, who played for new head coach Alex Golesh last season, will take an official visit to the Plains this weekend.

Just like last season, the Tigers will be heading into the 2026 season with a completely new-look quarterback room.

Unsurprisingly, Jackson Arnold hit the portal, and although Ashton Daniels was expected to stick around it seems like he will be trying to find a program where he can be the immediate starter. The biggest shocker was true freshman Deuce Knight's entry to the portal despite the fact that he would've been paid well to continue to develop on the Plains.

Even before all the quarterbacks hit the portal, it was expected that Golesh would try to bring in his QB from South Florida, Byrum Brown, and for good reason. Brown was the top-ranked quarterback in the nation last year, totaling 3,158 passing yards and 28 touchdowns. He added another 1,008 rushing yards to his tally and scored 14 touchdowns on the ground.

Brown has spent the past four seasons at South Florida and has 7,690 career passing yards and 61 touchdowns. He's racked up 2,265 rushing yards and an additional 31 touchdowns.

On3 Sports' Pete Nakos stated on X this morning that Auburn is currently the school to watch for Brown, and Auburn Sports's Jeffrey Lee—along with Nakos and Steve Wiltfong—put in a prediction for Brown to choose the Tigers. It seems likely that Brown will utilize his last year of eligibility to reunite with Golesh on the Plains.
