In today's edition of Auburn Tigers News, baseball gets a big win over No. 24 Troy. In addition, the Iron Bowl of basketball is ESPN's most-watched game so far this season.
On Tuesday night, the Auburn baseball team welcomed the No. 24 Troy Trojans to Plainsman Park for a mid-week matchup. Plenty of Troy fans made their presence known in the ballpark, and it was a tie game in the final innings.
In the bottom of the ninth, with the score tied, Bub Terrell got a big hit and ended up on third thanks to an error by the Trojans' center fielder. Then, Troy elected to walk the next two batters, loading the bases as Ike Irish stepped up to the plate for the Tigers. Irish made quick work of the Trojans, knocking the ball into center field and winning the game 7-6.
"I think big credit to Bub, if he doesn't leg it out, we're not in that situation, so he gets the third," Irish said, per Auburn Rivals. "In my head I was like, 'They're going to walk Bristol.' I didn't think they walked Cade though, but I think some things are, we're supposed to make the game personal and there was no extra needed motivation tonight for making it personal with who we were playing."
Iron Bowl of basketball is ESPN's most-watched game
All eyes were on the Iron Bowl of Basketball. Last weekend's matchup between No. 1 Auburn basketball and No. 2 Alabama was one of the most anticipated games of the season, and it did not disappoint. Of course, the Tigers emerged victorious with a 94-85 win over the Tide, but it was a hard fought victory for head coach Bruce Pearl and his squad.
According to ESPN PR on X, the IBOB was their most-watched college basketball game of the season so far, drawing over three million viewers.
