In today's edition of Auburn Tigers News, Jarquez Hunter talks about his Auburn legacy. In addition, a top tight end takes a trip to the Plains
By the time he was a senior, running back Jarquez Hunter was the only member of his recruiting class left on the Plains. Through multiple coaching changes and ups and downs in the program, Hunter spent his entire college career with Auburn football, something that is becoming more and more rare in the age of the transfer portal.
Hunter participated in the Reese's Senior Bowl this weekend alongside Eugene Asante and Jalen McLeod, and the running back was asked what he wants his legacy to be with the Tigers.
"Loyalty to my team," Hunter said, per Auburn Undercover. "I stayed the course and stayed the same. I was loyal to my team, and I felt like I gave my team everything I got every time I went out there, even though it doesn't matter if it's this coach, that coach. I mean, I'm gonna play ball for whoever's coaching."
Top tight end takes visits the Plains
This weekend, one of the top tight ends in the nation made his way to the Plains to check out the Auburn football program. 4-star Kaiden Prothro is ranked as the No. 2 tight end in the recruiting class of 2026 and the No. 3 overall recruit out of Georiga.
Though it is still early in his recruitment, Prothro has been to the Plains multiple times already and has liked what he has seen from the Tigers.
“I just really like how they run things around here and the coaches are great,” said Prothro, per Auburn Rivals. “I feel like they use their tight ends a good amount here so that’s good on my part. It’s just a family here and I feel like everybody just wants to win.”
Prothro plans to return to Auburn for an official visit and to check out a spring practice, but is also planning to officially visit Alabama, Georgia, Florida, and possibly Texas.
