In today's edition of Auburn Tigers News, Keionte Scott visits an SEC rival, and Deshaun Davis takes a new position at Jacksonville State
With the NCAA ruling allowing JUCO players an extra year of eligibility, former Auburn football cornerback Keionte Scott was awarded another season of college football. He was not expected to return to the Plains and was not included in the overall plan for next year's roster. He announced recently that he would be entering the transfer portal.
In three seasons in orange and blue, Scott recorded 115 total tackles, one sack, one interception, and 10 pass deflections. He has earned offers from programs around the country and has set a visit to LSU in the coming days, according to Auburn Wire. He is also expected to visit USC.
Scott struggled with an ankle injury this past season, and ultimately lost his role in the starting rotation.
Deshaun Davis takes a new position at Jacksonville State
Another former Auburn football player has been hired as a coach at a college program. Alabama native and former Auburn football captain Deshaun Davis has been hired as the linebackers coach at Jacksonville State. Former Auburn co-defensive coordinator Charles Kelly left the program two weeks ago to take the head coach position at Jacksonville State.
Davis spent the last two years coaching linebackers at the University of North Alabama after getting his coaching start as a graduate assistant under Gus Malzahn— his former head coach— at the University of Central Florida in 2022.
He played Auburn football from 2015-2019 and was a three-year starter at the linebacker position for Malzahn. He logged 256 tackles, seven sacks, and six pass deflections during his career on the Plains, and was later drafted by the Cincinnati Bengals in the sixth round of the 2019 NFL Draft.
