In today's edition of Auburn Tigers News, the football team adds another recruit to the 2025 roster and basketball's Chaney Johnson talks about his newfound confidence

Earlier this week, the Auburn football team lost a commit when 3-star cornerback Dante Core announced his flip to Lane Kiffin and the Ole Miss Rebels. Today, the loss was papered over by a better announcement. 4-star cornerback Shamar Arnoux from Carrollton, Georgia, announced his flip from USC to Auburn.

Arnoux made his first commitment during his sophomore year of high school to Tennessee, then flipped to USC in June 2024. He visited the Plains for Big Cat Weekend and made the trip for multiple games this fall.

"Just how close to home and how they make me feel as a staff," said Arnoux on why he flipped, per Auburn Rivals. "And the opportunity to play early."

With 28 commits so far, Auburn football's recruiting class of 2025 currently sits at the #5 spot overall.

Chaney Johnson talks about his newfound confidence

The Auburn basketball team got another big win on Wednesday over Kent State, and senior forward Chaney Johnson led the way for head coach Bruce Pearl and the Tigers. He had his best scoring performance of 35 games in orange and blue, racking up 18 points off the bench and shooting 8-of-11 from the floor.

Despite coming off the bench, Johnson is the Tigers' second-leading scorer and rebounder and remains a selfless teammate who is willing to do what it takes to get the team to a win.

"Last summer I came in with a bigger chip on my shoulder because I knew I was going to have to take the spot that (Jaylin Williams) filled so well," Johnson said, per Auburn Undercover. "So I knew I was going to have to fill that spot. So just trusting in my work, making sure I'm working on the right shots I'm going to get in the offense. And also just playing with more confidence."

Johnson and the Tigers will return to action next Monday against North Alabama in Auburn Arena.
