John Elway blessed Bo Nix with one of the most important things a Denver Broncos quarterback can attain during his career in the Mile High City: the endorsement of Elway, the winningest signal-caller in the franchise's storied history.

During an interview with Athlon Sports, Elway spoke excitedly about the star rookie's first year under center.

"I'm really excited to see what Bo Nix is doing in Denver," Elway explained to Athlon Sports. "I think that he's a young guy that is in a good situation. Had a lot of experience.

"Started 60 college football games. A very mature kid with all the athleticism that he has. And so, really enjoy watching him."

Elway gave advice to Nix to stay within himself and block out the outside noise.

"Well, I think the key thing is to try to stay within yourself," Elway said of his advice to Nix. "I think to try to live up to your own expectations and don't live up to what's going on outside the walls."

Nix has been apologetically himself all season. He famously got up in Sean Payton's face and screamed at him back in October before leading the Broncos to a comeback win over the Las Vegas Raiders. He went viral again in December for wanting to go for two in a game-winning situation against the Cincinnati Bengals during the closing moments -- in a game Cincy ended up winning in overtime. Nix was probably correct in that case too.

With the backing of both Elway and Peyton Manning, Nix has embraced the franchise QB role in Denver. No one has done so since Manning's Super Bowl title win in 2016.

And it's not a surprise after he stayed true to himself and left Auburn for Oregon in 2021, never looking back after becoming a Heisman finalist and first-round NFL draft pick.
