Bo Nix goes viral several times during his best day as an NFL QB in Week 5
Bo Nix was everywhere on October 6; the best day the Denver Broncos QB and former Oregon and Auburn star has had during his short pro football career.
First, he was going viral for rocking John Elway's jersey. Of course, Elway is the Mile High City's greatest legend and the man Nix most needs to emulate. That was a great move to endear himself to the Broncos fanbase.
An even better way to endear oneself is to play winning football, though. And Nix did just that with 216 all-purpose yards and three touchdowns in a 34-18 win over the Las Vegas Raiders. The best part? Nix got the offense going after chewing out his head coach, Sean Payton, and his top weapon in college who was drafted with him, Troy Franklin, on the sidelines.
Yelling at teammates and coaches isn't desired. But doing so and proceeding to turn the offense around nearly singlehandedly is a visceral statement.
Bo Nix proving that bumps at Auburn, triumphs at Oregon created a capable NFL QB1
Nix needed the adversity at Auburn to become the star he became in Oregon. And he needed those five years of experience between the SEC and Pac-12 to walk into the NFL as a rookie and look like a capable leader from the jump.
Maybe he didn't need all of this, per say. But it's proven to forge a pro QB1 through fire.
With three wins in a row, Denver is now a formidable contender in the AFC West. And with five touchdowns and no interceptions during the win-streak, Nix is becoming exactly what Broncos fans have been waiting for since Peyton Manning retired.
