Heading into the 2025 season, the Auburn football team has a talented group of young defensive linemen who are poised to play early and make an immediate impact for the Tigers.
Jourdin Crawford had an extremely impressive showing in the spring, and Malik Autry is receiving praise from national media outlets ahead of the season. They join fellow freshman Darrion Smith and sophomore Malik Blocton as younger guys who have something to prove. Quientrail "Bobby" Jamison-Travis has been in their shoes, and he's using his story to assume a leadership role in his position group.
Jamison-Travis was at the bottom of the depth chart coming out of spring ball last year, but he put his head down, worked hard and eventually earned a spot as a starter for the Tigers. Defensive line coach Vontrell King-Williams said that Jamison-Travis is someone who trusts the process and who has steadily improved his game. The DL hopes to communicate that to his younger teammates.
“I got to step up into that role,” said Jamison-Travis, per Auburn Rivals. “I’ve got to make sure the young guys are doing what they’ve got to do to be great and making sure I’m doing what I’ve got to do to be great. Just have a team mentality so we can execute on Saturdays.
“I tell them everything is earned. I had to come in and earn a spot. Like, truly earn a spot. It wasn’t given to me. None of that. I had to come in and work.”
Auburn football returns to action on August 29 when it takes on the Baylor Bears in Waco, Texas.
