Auburn Tigers transfer receiver Cam Coleman could decide on his next College Football home by the end of the weekend. If that's the case, Horns247's Hank South believes it will be the Texas Longhorns that earn his likely $4 million-plus commitment.
Per South, "...if Cam Coleman takes any other visits besides Texas, he's not going to Texas. Would think the Longhorns will get this one done this weekend. We'll see though."
If Coleman doesn't sign his new contract in Austin this weekend, the Texas A&M Aggies, Texas Tech Longhorns, USC Trojans, and even the Alabama Crimson Tide are all looking to get visits scheduled for the former Central (Phenix City) Red Devil.
Per The Houston Chronicle's Kirk Bohls, Texas separates itself by having Arch Manning under center.
"Texas WR Parker Livingstone is entering the transfer portal because the Horns are saying their money to land Auburn’s Cam Coleman. Texas in good position with Coleman and has an edge over A&M because of Arch Manning, but the Auburn WR is wanting big money. One source says he may ask for $4 million," Bohls wrote.
Of course, the school that separates itself will offer an elite quarterback and the highest bid. That's the real game here. If David Mulugheta from Athlete's First doesn't get his alma mater to throw his client the bag, Coleman will move on quickly.
Auburn offered Cam Coleman the most, but he declined
Money isn't why Coleman left the Plains. It's hard to process whether that's worse than not having the money.
Coleman clearly didn't enjoy his time just a short drive from his hometown. The underwhelming quarterback play was obvious, but his rumored off-field behavior points to someone who didn't take playing as seriously as possible. That's a result of practices that clearly did little to inspire him.
There's a new sheriff in town in East Central Alabama with Alex Golesh. He figures to change the culture drastically from a loose and lax Hugh Freeze locker room.
He'll just have to do it without Coleman, who had an expensive spot to return to that just wasn't good enough.
