Cam Newton strongly disapproves of Auburn football's quarterback play in recent years, sharing a spirited rant on the subject during his "4th&1" podcast. The former Heisman winner even addressed Bo Nix, who became a star at Oregon and is building up his case to be a household name in the NFL with the Denver Broncos.
As Newton notes, Nix was "a**" at Auburn, but that was clearly not his fault given what he's accomplished elsewhere since.
"The quarterback play over the years at Auburn has been egregious,” Newton said. “It’s been satanic. It has been something that I can’t even watch a game. And that’s a shot at all players who’ve played and coaches who’ve allowed them to play.
"And you would say, 'Well, didn’t Bo Nix play at Auburn?' Yes, and he was ass. He knows he was ass. There was times when Bo was like, ‘Oh, shit, we got us one.’ And then there was times like, 'Man, what the f*** bro?' And then, he goes to Oregon and it’s like, oh, shit, was it Auburn? Or was it the coaching? It damn sure wasn’t Bo because you’re still seeing him ball in Denver."
Newton, like many Tiger fans, is fed up with AU's futility under center. Instead of celebrating 2025 commit Deuce Knight, Newton challenged him to earn the No. 2 jersey number -- which Newton famously rocked during Auburn's last national championship season.
If there aren't 2010 vibes, or at least winning seasons, during Knight's career on the Plains, don't expect Newton to change his tune.
