Cam Coleman's transfer announcement perked up the ears of several gaudy rev-share and NIL players across the College Football landscape. CBS Sports' Cody Nagel shared several expected players for Coleman in the aftermath, but sprinkled in three surprises as well.
Nagel shared the common sense contenders like the Alabama Crimson Tide, who now have Coleman's former offensive coordinator with the Auburn Tigers, Derrick Nix, in tow, the Texas A&M Aggies, who initially earned Coleman's recruitment out of high school, and the Texas Longhorns, which is the alma mater of Coleman's agent, David Mulugheta of Athlete's First, while also sharing three dark horses:
The Oklahoma Sooners, the Texas Tech Red Raiders, and the USC Trojans.
"Coleman expects to attract attention from several high-profile programs. Oklahoma, Texas, Texas Tech, and USC could all be in the mix for his services. Alabama is a potential landing spot, where he could pair with fellow 2024 class standout Ryan Williams. Ohio State is another intriguing option, potentially teaming him with Jeremiah Smith assuming Carnell Tate departs for the NFL," Nagel wrote.
"Texas A&M is another school worth monitoring. Coleman was previously committed to the Aggies before flipping to Auburn and had a strong relationship with Holmon Wiggins, who recruited him while at Alabama and is now set to serve as Texas A&M's offensive coordinator in 2026."
The Cam Coleman sweepstakes is about to pop off
Texas Tech from the Big 12, armed with their big oil money? USC from the Big Ten, ready to spend with a high-value alumni base across the greater Los Angeles area?
Yeah, Coleman is about to get the bag.
Anyone and everyone is going to scrounge up what it takes to land a weapon like Coleman. Teams like the Red Raiders and Sooners will spend whatever on whichever quarterback in the portal Coleman wants, sweetening the pot. The Trojans, meanwhile, offer plenty off the field.
Coleman is the best free agent in the sport right now, until further notice. He's about to have the red carpet rolled out for him by any and everyone with a need at receiver and a dream.
Good for Auburn for being able to land players like that. Shame on the Tigers for letting Coleman get away, for whatever reason he has.
