Auburn's Johni Broome and Duke's Cooper Flagg are having a Sammy Sosa-Mark McGuire-esque battle for the Wooden Award as the Tigers and Blue Devils are standing above the rest of the country in competition for the No. 1 ranking.

CBS Sports' Gary Parrish couldn't hide his glee getting to cover this.

"Auburn is still undefeated in the SEC and ranked No. 1 in the CBS Sports Top 25 And 1. Duke is still undefeated in the ACC and ranked No. 2 in the CBS Sports Top 25 And 1. And I hope you guys realize how cool it is that the sport's two best teams (according to most humans, the NET and KenPom.com) are running through their conferences while being led by the two favorites to secure National Player of the Year honors — namely Cooper Flagg (Duke) and Johni Broome (Auburn)," Parrish wrote.

"This really is awesome.

"Every college basketball season delivers great storylines, obviously; it's impossible for them not to given the size of the sport. But it's not normal for two players to basically separate from the pack in the POY race this early, and for them to do it while leading the two teams that have also separated from the rest of the sport."

By that same token, all college basketball fans should be appreciating what we're witnessing for as long as we are. Sports take things away quickly and unexpectedly. Tiger fans felt that when Broome went down with an injury against South Carolina in January. Luckily, the injury wasn't serious and Broome missed two games.

But if these two teams can continue to win and protect their No. 1 seeds throughout March Madness, there's a championship weekend matchup between the two that'll break all box office and records just waiting to be played.

As the Auburn family would say: just two blue bloods going at it for all the marbles.
