Last week, elite in-state quarterback Trent Seaborn was on the Plains with his high school football team to compete in Auburn football's 7v7 tournament, and Seaborn's Thompson High School team dominated as usual.

The 4-star quarterback first earned a scholarship offer from the Tigers back in 2023 and has been his school's varsity starter since he was in eighth grade. Throughout his high school career, the Auburn football program has been a mainstay in his recruitment, and he has been a top target for his primary recruiter, Auburn quarterbacks coach Kent Austin.

“I love the coaching staff here, you know, they’re truly amazing,” Seaborn said after the tournament on Friday, per AL.com. “I’ve known them since, gosh, I was probably in seventh or eighth grade and they’ve always kept in touch, and I always get to see them all the time. So, to be able to come out here and throw in front of them, really means a lot.”

Seaborn has developed strong relationships with Austin and head coach Hugh Freeze over the years, and has watched the progress the Tigers' program has made since Freeze took over the program.

“Coach Freeze and Coach Austin, they have a great program right here, great culture. They’re really developing their kids,” Seaborn said. “The proof is in the pudding. We’ve had kind of countless guys from my school that have gone from Thompson and came here to play at Auburn.”

In last year's recruiting class alone, the Tigers signed three players from Thompson: safety Anquon Fegans, edge Jared Smith, and punter John Alan McGuire. Auburn's coaching staff has worked hard to pull recruits from one of the state's biggest programs, one that has typically funneled athletes to Alabama in the past.

Seaborn is ranked as the No. 16 quarterback in the recruiting class of 2027 and is the No. 9 recruit out of Alabama.
