The Georgia Bulldogs handled business in Week 6, blowing out the Kentucky Wildcats 35-14 at Sanford Stadium in Athens on Saturday. UGA's next test is against the Auburn Tigers at Jordan-Hare Stadium, and offensive coordinator Mike Bobo may already have his game plan cooked up.
Dawn of the Dawg's Trevor Michael sees Georgia quarterback Gunner Stockton getting a few big designed runs after he was able to add 48 yards on the ground with two touchdowns against the Wildcats.
"Stockton finished the game completing 15-23 passes for 196 yards and one touchdown. He did miss a few plays with his arm including a disappointing interception, but his success with his legs allowed him to make some big plays through the air later in the game," Michael wrote.
"So look for Mike Bobo to get Stockton some early big runs next week at Auburn, because that could give him the confidence he needs to excel with his arm."
Challenge accepted for DJ Durkin. Texas A&M Aggies QB Marcel Reed was held to negative yardage on the ground during a 16-10 win over AU at Kyle Field last weekend, this after gaining at least 37 yards on the ground each of TAMU's first three games. Similarly, Auburn contained Oklahoma Sooners QB John Mateer to just 29 yards during a 24-17 Tigers loss in Norman. Mateer went for 74 against the Michigan Wolverines and 63 against the Temple Owls.
Auburn needs to improve offensively to have any chance vs Georgia
If the Tigers have any chance against the Dawgs, Durkin's group will have to continue its dominance. But Jackson Arnold and the offense desperately need to get things going. AU is No. 14 in the SEC and No. 107 in the FBS in total offense through Week 5.
Hugh Freeze is quickly losing the fanbase. While few expect a win against the mighty Bulldogs, competing will be necessary to avoid any firing rumors. A 3-4 start, with losses to Georgia and the Missouri Tigers, would assuredly be the end of Freeze's time on the Plains.
