It's been a tough month for Auburn football recruiting. After hosting prospects for visits all throughout the months of May and June, the Tigers have not exactly gotten the results they would like so far.

Of course, there are big changes hitting the world of recruiting with the recent house settlement, which changes the way athletes can be paid, and many schools are still working to figure out what this means and how to operate legally in accordance with the settlement.

But other schools don't necessarily seem to be sharing Auburn football's struggles. Over the past month, the Tigers have had three commits from the recruiting class of 2026 walk back their pledge or flip to another school. Several priority targets have committed to other schools, and with the summer nearly halfway over Auburn has only six commits.

Still, head coach Hugh Freeze believes that the Tigers are doing things the right way in trying to follow the law and that by the time National Signing Day rolls around in December things will be different.

“It does seem kind of strange that we’re like some of the lowest range of numbers," said Freeze, per Auburn Live. "I mean, we’re like, you know, really, really low compared to some. And I’m trying to figure that out, but I do think it will shake out in the long run, but it is complicated and hard to sit there and feel great about.

“But I feel great about our relationships and I feel great about Auburn, and I know the families know that. And I do think just after we win games this fall, which I’m confident we will, I think it’ll all kind of shake itself out.

“Do I think we will (have a Top 10 class) in December? I do. I believe that wholeheartedly. We had over 50 visits in June, and I thought most families felt like, man, this is a great place to be, but we’ve got to figure all this other out."
