Following a strong spring with the Texas Longhorns, Cam Coleman is being projected to make serious noise during the 2026 College Football season. FOX Sports' Joel Klatt predicted big things for the high-priced Auburn Tigers transfer, leading to big things for Arch Manning's WR1 last year, Ryan Wingo.
Per Klatt, "Head coach Steve Sarkisian revamped the offense with some portal players, including wide receiver Cam Coleman. Watch out for Coleman, who I think can have a monster year and made my way-too-early top-10 2027 draft prospect list. You can see guys like wide receiver Ryan Wingo also having a big year, too." Klatt had Texas as his No. 7 team in his post-spring rankings and claimed the Longhorns were one of seven teams that could win the national championship, along with the Miami Hurricanes, Georgia Bulldogs, Indiana Hoosiers, Ohio State Buckeyes, Notre Dame Fighting Irish, and Oregon Ducks.
It's going to be a long year for Tiger fans who don't appreciate hearing about Coleman. The Phenix City, Alabama, product had several highlight reel moments that simply cannot be forgotten by time, even if Auburn never had a winning record with Coleman in tow. Still, some may not get over Coleman taking the money, easing on the gas pedal for two years, and taking off for Texas to boost his stock with the projected top 2027 NFL draft QB.
Cam Coleman could be Auburn's 2026 version of 2022 and 2023 Bo Nix
Bo Nix got much more criticism upon leaving the Plains than Coleman, even though he was never accused of taking plays off and always gave the Tigers everything he had. The disappointment of seeing Nix become a Heisman candidate will likely outweigh Coleman being a main accessory in Manning's own Heisman candidacy. It'll be the closest thing to seeing Nix thrive with Oregon, though.
Alex Golesh could make sure to keep the vibes positive with wins at Jordan-Hare Stadium and elsewhere in SEC country. What matters in Austin will only take up real estate in the Auburn family if there isn't a return to respectability in East Central Alabama.
Those highlight reel plays from Coleman in burnt orange will be hard to ignore, though.
