Former Auburn Tigers receiver Cam Coleman got a massive compliment by CBS Sports' Brad Crawford, who ranked the Texas Longhorns transfer as the No. 3 receiver in College Football behind the Ohio State Buckeyes' Jeremiah Smith and the Miami Hurricanes' Malachi Toney.

Crawford believes Coleman puts Texas quarterback Arch Manning's receiving corps over the top, making it the deepest WR room in the country and taking that mantle from the Buckeyes over the past several seasons.

"This 2026 recruiting cycle's top transfer pass-catcher, Coleman took a sizable payday with the Longhorns over offers from others to become Arch Manning's top threat. Ranked as the nation's No. 2 receiver and No. 5 overall prospect in the 2024 class by 247Sports, Coleman finished with 93 receptions for 1,306 yards and 13 touchdowns across 23 games played at Auburn despite inconsistent quarterback play throughout his tenure. For the first time in a couple of years, the Buckeyes do not have the deepest wideout room in the country. It's arguable, sure, but that title belongs to Texas in 2026 after the addition of this former five-star from Auburn," Crawford wrote.

Texas vs. Ohio State: Sizing up the WR debate

Does Coleman truly make the Longhorns that much better, even better than Ohio State, which is still enjoying the benefits of former Buckeyes offensive coordinator Brian Hartline's recruiting, despite his departure to replace Alex Golesh on the USF Bulls?

Texas has the returning Ryan Wingo and Emmett Mosley V, who combined for over 1,200 yards and 10 touchdowns, plus Coleman, who is expected to reach his potential in Austin in a way he never could in Auburn after a strong start this spring. Freshman Jermaine Bishop is looking like a potential riser as well.

Ohio State has Smith coming back after amassing 12 touchdowns and 1,243 yards on his own. The Buckeyes added blue-chip receivers, Chris Henry Jr. and Jerquaden Guilford, plus unsung breakout freshman Brock Boyd, not to mention LSU Tigers transfer Kyle Parker and UTSA Roadrunners transfer Devin McCuin.

If Coleman is as good as advertised and as compensated, the Longhorns may have the most talent room, pound for pound. The Buckeyes have more potential breakouts, though, so Crawford may be jumping the gun about Texas's receiving corps.
