Scarlet and Game's Ryan Stano revealed the downside to Auburn football's latest recruiting flurry that has brought Carrolton 4-star CB Shamar Arnoux to the Plains instead of USC: Na'eem Offord will probably stay with Ohio State and avoid a flip to the Tigers.

"Auburn has flipped four-star cornerback Shamar Arnoux from USC. That gives the Tigers four corners for this class. That's a full room now. It makes it much more likely that Offord stays with his commitment to the Ohio State Buckeyes. He still wants playing time," Stano said.

"While Offord is heading to Florida for a visit, Ohio State football fans shouldn't worry about that. It looks like the Gators are just paying a bunch of recruits to make a visit to Gainesville. Offord isn't the only high-level prospect to be visiting for that LSU game."

On SI's Brian Smith relayed Offord's likely decision in early November -- sharing what "most in the industry" expect to happen.

"Offord’s Feb. 4 commitment to Ohio State is just over nine months, old so it’s obvious he’s serious about heading to the B1G. Despite repeated trips to Auburn, plus trips to Bama and Oregon among others, most people in the recruiting industry believe he’s going to stick with the Buckeyes," Smith wrote.

Hugh Freeze didn't earn the state of Alabama's recruiting class's entire top 10 amidst Auburn football's awful season

Freeze didn't earn Offord. Auburn has been too much of a disappointment this season to flip everyone in sight. That hasn't stopped Freeze before, somehow, but this year has been particularly toxic.

Truthfully, it's a miracle Freeze has recruited as well as he has since taking over with his Bryan Harsin-esque record. He's done a masterful job of selling faith in the absence of tangible results.

Lose Deuce Knight, though, and then there's plenty to worry about. Caleb Cunningham's flip to Ole Miss after Knight celebrated on the field following the Rebels' 28-10 win over Georgia is certainly something to think about.
