With a new coach on board, there's no surprise that the Auburn Tigers football team will have some roster turnover ahead of the 2026 season. So far, over 10 Tigers have declared intentions to enter the transfer portal, which is open only from Jan. 2 to Jan. 16.
Two of those Tigers are a pair of offensive linemen. The first is redshirt freshman offensive guard DeAndre Carter, who announced his intentions to enter the portal on Sunday. Carter saw action in all of the Tigers' games last season, primarily playing on special teams.
Carter was a 4-star offensive lineman as a high school prospect out of Mater Dei in California, but during his time on the Plains, he was never able to step into a starting role.
Also declaring his intention to enter the transfer portal is offensive lineman Favour Edwin, originally from Nigeria. Edwin was recruited hard by Auburn, Alabama and Florida, but on Signing Day, he chose the Tigers.
In Edwin's two seasons on the Plains, he worked mostly with the scout team and did not see game action.
For a seond year, the Auburn Tigers coaching staff is going to have to heavily revamp the offensive line. Edwin and Carter will be exiting the program via the transfer portal while Jeremiah Wright, Dillon Wade and Mason Murphy are all out of eligibility. Connor Lew and Xavier Chaplin could return to the room but have not announced final decisions yet.
Other players that have declared their intentions to enter the transfer portal include wide receivers Malcolm Simmons, Perry Thompson and Horatio Fields, tight end Hollis Davidson III, cornerback Raion Strader, defensive lineman Antonio Coleman and running back Damari Alston, per Auburn Undercover.
