Auburn football is trending up for a former Ohio State commit, 4-star cornerback Blake Woodby
In October of 2023, 4-star cornerback Blake Woodby committed to Ohio State. According to the timeline on his 247 Sports profile, Woodby walked back his pledge to the Buckeyes on May 16, 2024, and the Auburn football program extended an offer on the very same day.
Throughout his commitment to Ohio State, Woodby kept his recruitment relatively open and kept up communication with other programs like Auburn, Michigan, Florida, and more. Woodby scheduled his official visit to the Plains shortly after his decommitment, and has since become a high-priority target for the Auburn Tigers. The cornerback is set to take his official visit with Auburn this weekend.
Ahead of the visit, On3 Sports' Vice President of Recruiting Steve Wiltfong logged an official prediction for Wooodby to end up as a Tiger.
“I’ve talked sources around Auburn today, and there is a lot of optimism going into the visit this weekend,” Wiltfong said, per On3 Sports. In addition to Wiltfong's prediction, two national recruiting analysts for 247 Sports logged Crystal Ball predictions for Woodby to land at Auburn this morning.
A native of Baltimore, Maryland, Woodby is ranked as the #2 prospect out of his state and the #8 cornerback in the recruiting class of 2025. Overall, he is ranked as a Top 100 recruit, coming in at #74.
Auburn Wire reports that this weekend will be a big recruiting weekend for head coach Hugh Freeze and the Auburn football program, with the Tigers hosting multiple recruits on official visits. 5-star wide receiver Caleb Cunningham, 4-star offensive lineman Broderick Shull, 4-star linebacker Elijah Menendez (Miami commit), 4-star defensive lineman Kalen Edwards, and 4-star tight end Emaree Winston (Texas commit) are all slated to join Woodby on the Plains.
