The Auburn football program will host 2025 5-star wide receiver Caleb Cunningham in the coming weeks
Has head coach Hugh Freeze begun a trend of bringing 5-star wide receivers to the Plains? It started with the flip of 5-star wide receiver Perry Thompson from the Alabama Crimson Tide to the Tigers over the summer, and continued with the flip of 5-star wide receiver Cam Coleman from Texas A&M.
The pair of part of the elite group of receivers coming to the Plains in 2024, known as The Freeze Five. Thompson and Coleman are joined by 4-stars Bryce Cain and Malcolm Simmons, and the group is hoping to flip the final member of the group, 5-star WR Ryan Williams, from the Tide in February.
It seems entirely possible that the trend of bringing talented receivers to the Auburn football program will continue into 2025. One 5-star receiver in next year's class has already set a visit to campus.
According to On3's Chad Simmons, via Auburn Wire, 5-star wide receiver Caleb Cunningham will be visiting the Plains on January 20, his third visit with Auburn football. He has also set additional visits to Florida and Oklahoma.
From Ackerman, MS, Cunningham attends Choctaw County High School and is ranked as the #1 prospect out of the state of Mississippi and the #10 overall recruit #2 wide receiver in the class of 2025.
Heading into his senior season, Cunningham has over 20 offers from multiple Power 5 schools including Alabama, Florida State, Georgia, and Florida, among others. According to the 247 Sports Crystal Ball and the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine, Mississippi State is currently in the lead for the elite wide receiver, but the upcoming recruiting visits could vastly change things.
The Auburn football program currently has eight commits in their recruiting class of 2025, none of which are wide receivers.
