It was a big recruiting weekend for the Auburn football program with many prospects from the recruiting class of 2025 making their way to the Plains to spend time with the coaching staff. Several flip targets who are committed to Alabama made the trip, as well as a number of Auburn targets.

After his weekend on campus, 4-star offensive lineman Mal Waldrep is high on the Auburn football program. A native of Phenix City, AL, about half an hour away from the Plains, Waldrep has been to Auburn multiple times and knows he is a high priority for the the Tigers, but according to Auburn Rivals this visit stood out because of the quality time spent with the coaching staff.

"There weren’t quite as many people as there has been for me on other visits," Waldrep said. "It was different, I got to spend a lot more time with some players that I haven’t seen in a while. I got to spend a lot more time with Coach (Jake) Thornton and Coach (Peyton) Cox. Got to talk to Coach (Hugh) Freeze a lot and I really enjoyed it."

A 3-star prospect, Waldrep is ranked as the #39 offensive tackle in the recruiting class of 2025 and the #19 recruit out of the state of Alabama. His recruitment has been heating up recently, with offers from the likes of Alabama, Tennessee, Florida, and Missouri, among others.

Though currently Auburn football is near the top of the list for Waldrep, in-state rival Alabama and Clemson are also pushing hard for the OT. He plans to visit Clemson at the end of the month and will tentatively travel to Tuscaloosa in February. Even with the competition, the Auburn football program is doing everything right to stay in the fight for Mal Waldrep.
